Madison365, a non-profit community news outlet based in Madison, Wisconsin has published their annual ‘Most Influential Native American Leaders’ list. Among the 32 names sits Mavid Construction’s Managing Partner, Zoar Fulwilder. He received the prestigious honor due to his work in expanding Mavid Construction as well as co-founding the Indigenous Business Group.

Fulwilder was appointed Managing Member of Mavid in 2008, where he has since scaled the company to a nationwide Native-American owned construction company. Under his tenacious leadership, Mavid has earned its MBE certification, won 4 Build Wisconsin awards, and diversified into land development and solar.

“Starting Mavid Construction was an opportunity to create jobs for the native community within the trades,” says Fulwilder. “In my role, I can help create opportunities for other natives to get a job that comes with industry-leading pay and great benefits”.

Together with Rob Pero and Collin Price, Fulwilder founded the Indigenous Business Group (IBG), a non-profit that provides opportunities for native-owned businesses to access resources, network, and gain knowledge to help them thrive. Throughout the year, IBG puts on multiple networking and educational events including a golf outing, State of the Tribes Reception, and the annual Indigenous Biz Con.

“IBG allows me to leverage my professional connections to help other native entrepreneurs. I was in their shoes once too, which gives me the knowledge to know what they need to succeed, and it’s IBG’s goal to provide that,” Fulwilder explained.

“I am honored to be recognized for this accolade,” Fulwilder commented. “I have the honor to know many others on the list, and it shines a light on what natives are doing to support other natives.”
